Chardon was founded in 1812 and later incorporated into the Village of Chardon in 1851. At that time, the Square was the center of commerce, education, local government and community.
Today, the Square still remains the heart of Chardon where residents gather for community events, concerts and festivals. The Square offers locally owned restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, and professional services.
The Chardon Square Association has two basic tenets to its charter: to advance and promote the growth and economic development of the business community on and around Chardon Square, and to preserve and protect the historical elements of Chardon Square.
