Beautiful historic 1800 sugar bush on conserved 66 acre farm. We do maple syrup and are in the process of growing blueberries for a U-Pick-It Blueberry operation. The Messenger family had produced syrup since the early 1800’s. Bill and Dee Belew purchased the farm from Louis and Helen Messenger in 1992. Since 1992 the sugaring operation went from buckets and horses to tubing. Horses are still being used to move and haul equipment. Three generations of the Belew family work diligently today to maintain, tap, and boil. Our original sugar house, although now vacant and reportedly the oldest sugar house in Geauga County, still stands as a constant reminder of days gone by. In 2010, a 1910 farm building has been converted to our new sugar house with the latest sugaring technology. Between 2010-2012 we planted four acres of blueberries. The month of July we offer picked or pick-your-own blueberries. Come pick and grow with us. We will gladly pick for you. Blueberries are the easiest to freeze so you enjoy them all year long. This beautiful piece of property has been conserved with the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Stop by and see our operation and visit our self-serve country store with year round maple syrup available. Hours are dawn to dusk 7 days a week. In the fall enjoy Geauga County’s best show of colors. Hike trails and take pictures. Come once and we are sure you will return.
